The CNG Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on NG Advantage CNG tractors & trailer chassis, keeping them up to Company and DOT standards. All needed repairs are done keeping quality, safety, and expediency at the forefront. This position works with Safety and Operations personnel and drivers to improve vehicle out of service standards and ensure compliance with DOT and Company requirements. The CNG Vehicle Mechanic is also responsible for inventory controls, processing order paperwork, and keeping our fleet of trucks and trailers in top condition.
High school diploma or GED required. 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred; Experience working on CNG vehicles is desirable but training is available for those with only diesel mechanic experience. Must have or be able to obtain Class A CDL with Hazmat Certification. Candidate must have: (1) a track record of punctuality, reliability and dependability; (2) Vermont State Inspection certification; (3) Air brake certification; 4) the ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; (5) the ability to follow detailed instructions, carry out tasks and learn new programs and methods for completing the assigned work; (6) the ability to exercise mature judgment; and (7) the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor. Experience using Fleet Maintenance Software program is preferred, as well as basic knowledge of email, spreadsheets and word processing programs. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. A strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit will be critical to success in this position.
This position will be based in Milton, Vermont but will travel throughout the northeast to perform emergency maintenance on vehicles. Travel will be more frequent December - March.
