The Assistant Safety Officer works as with the Director of Safety Operations & Community Outreach to ensure that NG Advantage provides the safest possible environment for our employees and customers. This position monitors workplace activities, Company equipment and procedures at both Company to ensure that employees comply with Company policies as well as local, state and Federal government safety regulations. In addition, the Director of Safety Operations & Community Outreach trains NG Advantage staff, customers and applicable first responders on the day to day safety operations. Participates in outreach to communities in and around our operations by attending community events and presenting educational safety information.
High school diploma; school; plus a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar position ideally in the natural gas or propane industry, or a combination of experience and education. Must have experience that provides evidence that the candidate has (1) a sound understanding of operations, maintenance and transportation of hazardous materials; (2) the ability to build trust and confidence with staff, customers and community members; (3) the ability to read, understand and comply with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and other safety regulations; (2) the ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; (3) the ability to exercise mature judgment; and (4) the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Must have exceptional attention to detail. Will need to be able to react quickly to changing requirements due to business needs and have the ability to adjust to the ever-changing environment of a fast-growing company. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously including prioritizing, estimating work effort and timelines, and communicating with stakeholders on progress. Must have a desire to make a real impact on the development and safety of the company and employees. Ability to travel around the New England, Pennsylvania and New York area checking facilities, conduct training and make presentations at community safety events. Travel is estimated to be 25-35% of the time.
